Sanna Nyassi wins MLS Player of the week

After two very good matches within the span of a week against the New York Red Bulls and New England Revolution, Rapids winger/forward Sanna Nyassi has won MLS player of the week.

Sanna ended the week with three goals and an assist, all scored in one game as he unleashed a hat trick against the Red Bulls and almost scored a fourth that Wells Thompson put in the rebound of, leading the Rapids to a 4-1 victory. Sanna did not have any points against the Revolution but was the player who earned the penalty kick that Caleb Folan eventually wound up sticking in and once again played surprisingly well in a laid back attacking midfielder role behind Folan and eventually Omar Cummings in the second half.

Sanna is proving to be the most viable candidate for a breakout player to replace the offensive power of Conor Casey and winning the player of the week with two straight strong performances is a good, good sign that he might be able to fill that role as the season continues and help pull the Rapids into a low playoff spot.
