Looks like the injury against the Seattle Sounders was indeed as bad as it looked from the start as he went down settling a ball on the slip and slide turf that the Sounders had set up last Saturday. Conor tore his Achilles tendon on the play and will be out for a minimum of eight months, meaning that he will miss the rest of this season and possibly some of the start of 2012's season as well.
The Rapids highest paid player and leading scorer had already missed almost half of the season with a hamstring problem that had plagued him during the year, but managed to score six goals in his last eight games since coming back from that. It's likely that we will now see an Omar Cummings - Caleb Folan starting striker duo for the rest of the season.
Interestingly, that is the second straight game he has played against Seattle that he has come away injured from, opening a gash in his skull the last time that he faced Seattle back in 2010. (Is the entire team going to get a 10 game suspension for this?)
