Omar Cummings selected as All-Star reserve

There will indeed be a Rapids player on the MLS All Star team this season, though the selection was a bit of a surprise. Coach Hans Backe decided to add Jamaican striker Omar Cummings to his all star team that will face Manchester United at Red Bull Arena on July 27th.

Conor Casey was most likely not selected due to an injury suffered during the team's last game against Seattle which is likely to keep him out of the next few matches if the injury was as severe as it looked at the time. Drew Moor was the likely next choice, but Omar managed to make the team likely on name recognition more than actual workrate. Cummings has started just over half of the games that the Rapids have played this season, scoring two goals on the season. That puts him third overall for goals in the Rapids striker depth chart, with Caleb Folan's three and Conor Casey's six ahead.

Congratulations to Omar, go get 'em on the 27th!
