Omar Cummings will not play on Saturday

Well, never mind then.

After optimism all week long gave Colorado Rapids fans hope that striker Omar Cummings had healed from his lingering ankle sprain and would get playing time if not a full start against the Portland Timbers on Saturday, but those hopes were unfortunately dashed today as the Rapids announced that he would not be playing after all and would be sitting out at least until next week's game against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Cummings completed a couple of training sessions prior to the news coming out but coach Gary Smith likes to keep his injured players out until they are completely sure to be ready and going into a harsh environment in Portland it may be smart to keep Omar sitting out.

Omar has two goals in his handful of appearances for the Rapids, coming against the Portland Timbers and DC United in games that ended 3-1 and 4-1 respectively.
