Gold Cupdate - United States to face Jamaica

Every US fan's face right here after those last few games.

The United States aren't exactly having a go of it in the Gold Cup like they've done in years past. The tourney started at least passably as the USA beat the Canadians 2-0 in Detroit to give themselves an early lead in their group. Unfortunately, the USA lost their first ever group stage game right after that to Panama of all teams and followed that up with a less than stellar performance against Guadeloupe where they won 1-0 thanks to a Jozy Altidore shot and with no thanks to Clint Dempsey or Chris Wondolowski, both of whom were absolutely horrid in their shooting on the day. (I still think that Wondo killed Dempsey and put his skin on, and then sent out Robbie Findley in a Wondo costume to fool us.)

Either way, the 2-1-0 record was good enough to get out of the group and the States will be facing a tough Jamaica squad in the start of the knock-out rounds. I don't know much about the Reggae Boyz but they do have reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the year Donovan Ricketts as well as a pretty good crop of offensive talent. They outscored their opposition 7-0 during the group stage en route to a 3-0-0 record at the end of the play. They will at the very least be missing Omar Cummings, who will be playing with his home-town Rapids the day of the game rather than with his boys in DC.

Amazingly, both Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan will miss training before the match because they both have sisters getting married apparently. Who knew? Either way, #GoGoUSA and all that, but I have a sick feeling that this is going to be a repeat of that game against Ghana, score-wise and showing by the US-wise.

Oh yeah, and Fire Bob Bradley.
