Omar Cummings injury during the Houston Dynamo game on Wednesday was kept fairly hushed up after he was flown back to Colorado and missed the New England game on Saturday. The 50/50 challenge with Lovell Palmer that left Cummings writhing on the ground injured his ankle, and Cummings is now being predicted to miss 2-4 weeks with an ankle sprain, similar to the ankle injury that Quincy Amarikwa suffered earlier in the season against Real Salt Lake that left him sidelined for a couple of weeks.
With Conor Casey likely to come back against DC United this injury is slightly less trivial, but still the sad statistic is looming that there has only been a single game match this season where the Rapids have had their two top choice strikers up top in Casey and Cummings, the home opener against the Portland Timbers. With this new kink in the striker depth, it's looking like the closest possible game that we could see them both playing together again will be against Toronto on the 22nd. And that's the absolute best case scenario.
This is really getting ridiculous, no?
