Colorado Rapids defensive midfielder and captain Pablo Mastroeni injured his calf during the pre-game of the FC Dallas match up and was forced to sit out for two games, with less than stellar consequences for the Rapids. He obviously had to sit out of the Dallas game but continuing problems left him out of one of the most important matches of the year, the away side of the Real Salt Lake derby. Fortunately for everyone, he is back training with the team and it's looking more and more likely that he will be available - as a starter, ideally - against the Seattle Sounders this Friday. If he is used as a sub look for Jamie Smith to once again man the middle of the midfield as he did against RSL.
After watching the last two games by the Rapids without Pablo and the lackluster play that resulted - specifically against Dallas of course, less against Salt Lake - this is a welcome addition back into the team.
