Colorado will face the Chicago Fire in the Open Cup

Colorado's first action in the Carling Cup of the USA US Open Cup will come against the Chicago Fire. The date and time have yet to be determined. Two of the teams in the play-in round will advance to the tournament proper, using the following game schedule;

Game A: Chivas USA at Portland
Game B:
Philadelphia at DC United
Game C:
Game A Winner at San Jose
Game D:
New England at Game B Winner
Game E:
Colorado at Chicago
Game F:
Kansas City at Houston
Game G:
Game E winner at Game C winner
Game H:
Game F winner at Game D winner

If Colorado beats Chicago, they will face either the Portland Timbers, Chivas USA or the San Jose Earthquakes in Game G for the chance to make the tournament. The games will most likely take place early in the MLS Season, probably in early June if last years game schedule was any indication. Colorado has never won the Open Cup, but came in second place in 1997 as they lost to the Rochester Raging Rhinos in the final.
