In a recent article from the Colorado Rapids website, Gary Smith basically confirmed what most of us had already figured out about the offseason, that being the whole "we're not getting any new players" thing. While there is still that mysterious Englishman on the horizon, it's not looking like we'll be seeing anything new out of the team come mid-March when they open against the Portland Timbers.

With the team basically listing important depth over the offseason as its #1 need, the pick ups of midfielder Sanna Nyassi and defenders Eddie Ababio and Colin Givens covered the offseason fairly well. Very few players that the Rapids would be able to pick up over the offseason would probably be able to crack the starting line up in any fashion unless they plan to pick back up Julien Baudet, and we already covered that earlier.

Another striker may be on the horizon but we won't be seeing any Charlie Davies to DC United style transfers that will break the bank and get people talking during the rest of the offseason. There has also been talk of a new central midfielder but with a lack of a place to put him in the solid starting line-up featuring our two holding midfielders where they could go, there's still doubt we'll ever see it. Gary did mention in that post that we might be seeing Jamie Smith of all people behind the Cummings/Casey duo up top. Food for thought!

Also Gary Smiff Smith just leaked important information on his twitter account that he'll be running a formation that
"starts wiff a 4 and ends wiff a 4-2."
