As a USA fan when it comes to international football, I always enjoy watching a good game against a strong team like Chile. Today's game contains some additional intrigue for those of us who are both USA fans and fans of the Colorado Rapids.
Not often do we get the chance to see our favorite club players getting shots to play with the biggest team in the country but the championship season and lack of other options has put Marvell Wynne, Matt Pickens, Jeff Larentowicz and Anthony Wallace onto the squad available for today's match vs. Chile. It's unlikely that Pickens or Wynne will start since the goalkeeping option is a log jam right now on that squad and Omar Gonzalez and Tim Ream are in Wynne's usual spot of Center back, but I think we've got a shot at seeing Larentowicz or Wallace getting the nod.
Wynne at present is the only one of the four players from the Rapids in there who have gotten a cap at the national team level, although Wallace has had quite a bit of experience with the youth teams in the US system.
The game starts at 8 PM Mountain Time. Talk about it in this thread if you'd like and good luck to the Rapids players as well as the rest of them playing against Chile tonight. Go USA!
EDIT: Looks like Pickens isn't going to be on the squad today. Makes sense with the number of keepers available, too bad for Matt.
