The Rapids (The RAPIDS!!) are in the finals. 1-0 final over SJ.

Kosuke, you are the man. The man from Japan.
Kosuke, you are the man. The man from Japan.

There are no words. The Colorado Rapids, relegated by many to the bottom tier of the league before the season began, will be representing the Eastern Conference in the 2010 MLS Cup finals. In front of an almost completely sold out Dick's Sporting Goods Park, 18,000 Rapids fans braved the frigid weather to see their team advance over the San Jose Earthquakes. (By the way, one of the only reasons it wasn't sold out? Only like 12 people showed up to be in the away supporters section.)

(Un?)fortunately, it didn't snow tonight, leaving only 28 degree weather for the players to contend with. That plus the altitude and a revitalized performance by the Colorado defense kept the Earthquakes off the score sheet tonight, with Chris Wondolowski being a complete non-factor by the end of the game, and the Earthquakes in fact only getting a meager couple of shots on goal, all of which were incredibly easy for Matt Pickens.

Kosuke Kimira notched the only goal of the game on a slow bouncer towards goal. It got right by Omar Cummings' feet and Jon Busch overcompensated for Omar being near the ball, allowing it to bounce right by him and into the net.

See you all in Toronto. Colorado will find out who they will play in the MLS Cup Final tomorrow, as the Los Angeles Galaxy will take on FC Dallas for the right to play Colorado in the final.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Kosuke Kimura. Played his best game in a Rapids uniform. Perfection on the defensive end, clever touch on the goal and a raucous celebration after the trophy had been won. Honorable mention to every other member of the back four plus all four midfielders for impeccable defense.

GOAT OF THE MATCH: Not even gonna.
