The Colorado Rapids will look to put their disappointing loss to Sporting Kansas City in the rear-view mirror as the Rocky Mountain club will travel to British Columbia to face the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Colorado (1-1-1) are coming off a 3-2 loss on the weekend to Sporting Kansas City at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Vicente Sanchez converted two penalty kicks, but John Berner was beaten at the near post in stoppage time as the defending MLS Cup Champions claimed all three points in Commerce City. Marvell Wynne was also sent off for a second bookable offense late in the 2nd half.
Vancouver (2-0-2) defeated Houston Dynamo 2-1 on the weekend. Forward Kenny Miller scored his team-leading third goal of the season to lift the Whitecaps in front of a sold-out crowd at the BC Place. The Cascadia club has started well under head coach Carl Robinson, who was named as manager in December of 2013 following the departure of Scotsman Martin Rennie.
Four points after three matches against arguably top sides (New York, Portland and Sporting Kansas City) is one positive to take from Pablo Mastroeni's side so far in 2014. However, the Rapids need to learn quickly from mistakes made on the weekend as Vancouver will be another tough opponent. Jose Mari is expected to be inserted back into the starting lineup after serving his one-match ban last week.
