BOMBSHELL NEWS, GU- Oh wait, this was the worst kept secret in MLS. Finally, after nearly a week of waiting, the long-expected news of Oscar Pareja being sent to FC Dallas to be their new head coach was made official by the Rapids.
With both Pareja and Wilmer Cabrera out the door, the Rapids can finally begin working on a coaching search that, as of right now, features no clear-cut candidates other than John Spencer and Robin Fraser, the two names originally put on the block by Ives when he reported that Pareja was planning on resigning.
Colorado received a first-round pick in the 2015 MLS Draft along with allocation money and a buyout for the services of their now-former head coach. While the pick won't do much good in the short-term, it will replace the 2015 pick that the Rapids lost when Danny Mwanga was brought in. Other than that, hopefully the allocation money can be put to good use, since the Rapids still have a few holes in the roster that were there even before the Pareja kerfuffle began.
