Colorado's unbeaten streak was stretched to nine on Saturday after another impressive display, ending in a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. With playoff positions on the line, those three points will be big going into the homestretch. Who was the best player for the Rapids yesterday, though?
Clint Irwin - Didn't have a whole lot to do in the end, but all three saves he made were huge ones. The defense couldn't do a whole lot about some of those great through balls that the Caps were able to get into the area, and when you've got situations like that you need your 'keeper to come up big. Irwin did, and the Rapids likely would not have won if he hadn't.
Vicente Sanchez - The veteran Uruguayan showed well against 9-man Chivas USA and proved it was no fluke with 60 good minutes of action on Saturday. He was very clearly the most creative attacking force on the field and had a very good cross on the first goal. Did seem a step off chemistry-wise at times, but that just makes us look forward to his future performances even more.
Deshorn Brown - Made up for the worst game of his Rapids career with another solid start in the vein of his last RSL performance. Had a very well-taken header to score his seventh goal of the season, and was a pest as usual to the scrambling Whitecaps defense.
