Despite the fact that the Rapids played out the most frustrating game of the season on Sunday night, there were a few positives on display. In fact, some of the players on the team had fabulous nights, only squandered away by some of the less impressive players like Deshorn Brown, German Mera and Nick Labrocca.
That in mind, I've got a whopping four players in mind that could be my man of the match, vote below on who yours was.
Nathan Sturgis - Another super performance from Sturgis in the midfield. Nobody on the field touched the ball more than Sturgis did on Sunday, and almost every single play up the field started on his boot. It was only when it got to the other guys when the plays would be squandered.
Chris Klute - One more assist to the tally for Klute, and another very good defensive performance to boot, though it was hard not to have at least a decent defensive showing when you had a man advantage for so long and such a huge chunk of the possession.
Martin Rivero - A goal on his return! Martin, who was so frustrating to watch in the final third when it came to goalscoring last season, took his chance in the box incredibly well and scored a perfect header. Was also very influential in the center of the park after coming on, finishing almost every pass he attempted.
Vicente Sanchez - This guy could be good. Sanchez immediately changed the game for the Rapids, drifting all over the field and putting on a show with his passing ability. Was offside on his best chance, the one that Deshorn Brown ended up putting into the net, but showed incredibly well all game long.
