When the Gabriel Torres signing -- which hasn't happened yet but is still completely expected -- was announced by Chris Bianchi a few days ago, he also mentioned that the Rapids were looking at one other goal-scorer to help out the team's often anemic offense.
According to a whole slew of different resources all over twitter, here's one of the many right here, that mystery man is going to be Uruguayan striker Vicente Sanchez.
The 33-year-old Sanchez would be a rare veteran influence being brought into the team, similar to the signing of Edson Buddle before the season started. Sanchez's pedigree is a bit more seasoned than Buddle's though, with long stints at clubs like Toluca, Schalke and Club America. He also boasts 31 appearances for the Uruguayan national team, with five goals to his name.
He wouldn't exactly be a signing of the caliber of Gaby Torres, but it's still nice to see that the team is being linked to some high-class international names.
