Orlando City vs. Colorado Rapids - Game Preview

Orlando City play a friendly match against Toronto FC in preseason - Al Messerschmidt

On Tuesday, May 28th, the Colorado Rapids will face Orlando City FC in the US Open Cup 3rd Round at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

The Colorado Rapids will take a break from league play on May 28th to play 2nd division side Orlando City FC in the US Open Cup on Tuesday evening. The match will be held at the Citrus Bowl, which is a football stadium. However, the club sells the lower bowl for soccer matches, similar to DC United and New England Revolution of Major League Soccer.

Orlando City play in the third division of US Soccer, the USL-Pro. The US Open Cup is a tournament similar to the English FA Cup, which is open to all professional teams, including many lower division sides.

The Colorado Rapids are currently on a five-game unbeaten streak. With FC Dallas at home looming on Saturday evening, Rapids head coach Oscar Pareja will most likely go with a true reserve side. However, the US Open Cup does reward the winner with a direct route into the CONCACAF Champions League; a path the Colorado Rapids should hopefully want to take again.

The game will be streamed live at this link.
