The Daily Wave is a slice of opinion from a Burgundy Wave contributor, released every weekday morning.
It was big news for the Rapids when they won the lottery for Charles Eloundou, but he has yet to make an appearance in the U.S. Back in January the Rapids announced that they had won the lottery for Charles Eloundou bidding against DC United and Real Salt Lake. The Rapids signed Eloundou for a one year loan with an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the season. At the time I was hesitant on the pick up because of the depth that the Rapids had built at Forward, and now I am even more hesitant on the pick up because we have yet to see him in the US let alone Colorado.
Eloundou could bring a lot of promise to the Rapids youth movement. The 18 year old Cameroonian has made 7 appearances for Cameroon' s Under-20 national team scoring 8 goals. He also made 1 appearance on the top national team this year. The Rapids are looking for a proven goal scorer and placed some hope in Eloundou and the possibility that he would be able to bring goals to this team.
After the Rapids struggles in the first two games of the season; I found myself asking where Eloundou was. And after watching Twitter this week I am not the only one who has been wondering where he is. Rapids beat writer Chris Bianchi hasn't heard anything on him, and when I asked Rapids Director of Media Relations David Lindholm about him he responded saying that there has been no movement on that yet. Now I am not totally up on the loan process; so I cannot say much about what the Rapids would need to do to get him here. But I for one would love to see what he would be able to do in Burgundy!
