Jamie Smith has finally been re-signed by the Colorado Rapids.

It's been quite a while since we first heard that the Rapids would not be retaining the rights to old Scotsman Jamie Smith. Since then, it's been quite a 'will he or won't he' sort of affair.

First, we assumed that Eric Avila might be taking his spot in the future, and then Avila got traded. Then he got stuck into the Desert Friendlies roster but wasn't used until the last game, when he scored a goal. Fortunately, it looks like the team and player were able to work out a contract in the end, as he was re-signed Friday night.

Smith being on the team will help add a bit of extra depth to the attacking midfielder spot, which took a blow lately when both Martin Rivero and Jaime Castrillon were forced out with injuries. He may have a bid to start against FC Dallas on March 2nd with the injury list at the position, along with Nick Labrocca, Kevin Harbottle and Dillon Serna.

It's just a shame that we can't see the official terms of the deal, I'm interested to see what that final number they decided on was.
