Edson Buddle will miss the pre-season friendlies in Arizona, out for 1-2 weeks with injury.
Despite the pick up of DeShorn Brown in the MLS SuperDraft, the center forward position is still probably the thinnest for the Colorado Rapids, depth-wise. Hearing that Edson Buddle was going to be missing time due to a knee injury, one that he had history with, was not something that we wanted to hear going into the final stretch of the preseason.
Fortunately, an article on ColoradoRapids.com earlier gave us a timescale, and it looks like Buddle will only miss one or two weeks of time for the Rapids before re-joining the team, ideally reaching full health before the opener against FC Dallas on March 2nd.
Here's the quote by Oscar Pareja that finally gives us a timescale:
"Positive," Pareja said of Buddle's diagnosis. "In our talks with his doctors, we anticipate he'll be ready to go in a week or two."
Hopefully it's not going to end up being a nagging injury that sticks with him the entire 2013 MLS season, if this was the last we heard of it I doubt any of us would complain.
