On Saturday, August 18th, the Colorado Rapids will play host to Club Deportivo Chivas USA at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MST and the match will be broadcast on Altitude.
Colorado (8-15-1) are hoping to return to winning ways as the club is not yet mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. There are 11 games to go, and the Rapids need maximum points from the majority of these matches to have any chance of making the MLS postseason. Colorado are coming off a highly disappointing 3-2 loss to FC Dallas on the weekend, a game where the Rapids once again took an early lead but were unable to put their opponents away.
Chivas USA (7-9-5) recently made the headlines by acquiring longtime New England midfielder Shalrie Joseph. The MLS veteran was initially saddened to leave the club in which he has played his entire career. However, Joseph is excited about his future with Chivas USA. The Los Angeles based club have had a poor season and are only one point ahead of Colorado in the Western Conference Standings.
The last time the Rapids played Chivas USA was in late April and Colorado won by a scoreline of 4-0. This is the second time the two clubs have faced each other this season. Colorado forward Conor Casey is optimistic that he can play on Saturday after returning to training during the past week. Casey has suffered from a hamstring injury. The Rapids have currently won 6 in a row against Chivas USA, a streak dating back to 2009.
