U.S. Women's National Team goalkeeper Hope Solo and the rest of the team will play in Denver as part of the London 2012 Olympics Victory Tour after winning the gold medal against Japan.
The United States Women's National Team will make a stop in Denver. Well, Commerce City to be exact. The Gold medal winners at this summer's London 2012 Olympics will play host to Australia at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in an international friendly that will be played at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th. The match will be broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPN3.
The match will be the third stop for the U.S. Women's National Team on the special Victory Tour to celebrate their 2-1 win over Japan in the London 2012 Olympic final. The game was played at London's Wembley Stadium and attracted over 80,000 spectators.
The first two matches of the tour will be played at the Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, NY, and the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Abby Wambach's hometown is Rochester, New York.
The U.S. Women have faced Australia 21 times and hold an impressive 19-0-1 record against the Socceroos. The last time the two teams met resulted in a 2-1 win in Suwon, South Korea in 2008. Many Colorado Rapids fans are expected to see the U.S. ladies as Dick's Sporting Goods Park is home to the MLS club.
