Julian de Guzman was recently traded to FC Dallas from Toronto FC. The Ontario native was brought in to help a struggling Dallas team on the 2012 campaign.
On August 11th, the Colorado Rapids will travel to Frisco, Texas, to take on FC Dallas. The match will be played at FC Dallas Stadium (formerly Pizzas Hut Park) and will be broadcast on Altitude at 7:00 MST. This is the third and final match between the two Western Conference rivals.
Colorado (8-14-1) ended a six game losing streak on the weekend as they defeated Real Salt Lake 1-0 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The winless run was one of the worst for the Rapids in over a decade. Colorado also finally defeated RSL for the first time in eight games.
FC Dallas (5-11-8) have had a rough campaign and currently sit 8th place in the Western table. The Texan club are just three points from the bottom of the Conference. Since a 5-0 thumping over the last place Portland Timbers, FC Dallas has gone winless in their last two matches. They lost to the LA Galaxy and then drew 1-1 in a rematch with Portland on the weekend.
FC Dallas and Colorado both currently sit well outside the playoff picture. However, should either club get on a winning streak, the fifth and final playoff spot in the West might not seem far out of reach, as is the way MLS tends to go. This is also considering the fact that LA Galaxy were humbled in Seattle by a scoreline of 4-0 at CenturyLink Field to the Seattle Sounders. Should Colorado win, the club will receive a big boost as they prepare to face Chivas USA at home the following week.
