At least when it comes to the starting XI, decided by fan vote, the MLS All-Star Game is pretty much just a popularity contest similar to the MLB or NBA ASG's. Popularity contest explains why there are two members of the blissfully mediocre Galaxy on the squad along with Jimmy Neilsen in goal even though Dan Kennedy perhaps had a better argument to get the start.
With that in mind, it should surprise absolutely nobody that the Colorado Rapids don't have any names on that list. The team certainly doesn't deserve any with their play this season of course, but considering Omar Cummings somehow made his way onto the team last season you never know.
I suppose there's a chance that Martin Rivero, Matt Pickens or someone else makes it in as an All-Star reserve, we'll find out later.
Here's the starting XI, taken from MLSSoccer.com:
Goalkeeper: Jimmy Nielsen (Sporting Kansas City)
Defenders: Steven Beitashour (San Jose Earthquakes), Aurélien Collin (Sporting Kansas City), Jay DeMerit (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Heath Pearce (New York Red Bulls)
Midfielders: David Beckham (LA Galaxy), Dwayne De Rosario (D.C. United), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
Forwards: Thierry Henry (New York Red Bulls), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)
