Run to the hills! Run for your life! The injuries are coming, the injuries are coming!
OK, so it's not as bad as all of that, but after last season's huge injury spat it's a bit dizzying to see the small injuries start to pile up on the Colorado Rapids in 2012. Two more starters are now confirmed out of the picture with injuries for significant time, Omar Cummings and Marvell Wynne.
Wynne had already missed two straight games with a hamstring injury suffered during training, but Omar's injury was inflicted more recently. Omar collided with George John in the box early in the Rapids 2-0 win over FC Dallas and went down awkwardly on his ankle, spraining it. An MRI confirmed that it was a Grade II sprain.
Both guys are expected to miss about a month of time. For Cummings it's not as bad because Conor Casey came back in the nick of time to take over the offense, but Tyrone Marshall is going to need to improve his game a bit to make up for Wynne being out of the lineup for a significant amount of time. They join Pablo Mastroeni and Ross LaBauex on the list of guys who are out for a while for the Rapids after being injured this season. Let's just hope that list doesn't continue to expand.
