The first of two eventual roster swaps for international players has officially been made. The Colorado Rapids have announced that Brazilian forward Edu is officially available for selection after gaining his ITC and P-1 Visa. Edu is the latest of the many international signings that the Rapids have picked up so far this season.
The pick up of Edu as well as Colombian Harrison Henao left the Rapids with two more international players than they had international slots, and so with Henao sticking in Jamie Smith's current spot while the Scotsman gets well from an injury, someone else had to go. The unlucky loser of that race was Canadian international Josh Janniere, who was waived from the roster on Monday.
Janniere had been a straight lower reserves player since coming to the Rapids from Toronto, getting only one first team appearance during his time with the team -- a US Open Cup loss to Chicago back in 2011.
