On Sunday, May 6th, the Colorado Rapids will travel to Frisco, Texas to take on FC Dallas at FC Dallas Stadium, formerly known as Pizza Hut Park. The match will be broadcast nationally on Galavision and locally on Altitude.
The Rapids are coming off a disappointing 2-1 midweek loss to the New England Revolution in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Jaime Castrillion opened the scoring but the Rapids were unable to answer two Revs goals later in the first half. FC Dallas has had two draws in a row, most recently to the Los Angeles Galaxy on the weekend. FC Dallas are currently tied for fifth place in a crowded Western Conference.
Brek Shea is the headliner for FC Dallas and the United States international has scored the clubs last three goals, though they have plenty of offensive talent including Blas Perez. Colorado head coach Oscar Pareja is expected to give Conor Casey more minutes then the forward had at home against Chivas USA.
Colorado has lost four out of their past five games. While it could be safe to say it is still early in the season, the Rapids need to find ways to pick up points on the road against Western Conference opposition. The unbalanced schedule does not reward Western clubs with spots in the Eastern Conference playoff bracket as it has in years past.
