"Stop falling down and not getting back up, dammit!"
If you'll think back to the start of last season, DC United started the year off with a bit of an injury crisis in their defense. One of their worst performances of the year defensively came in the final 20 minutes of their game in Colorado, when they gave up three straight late goals to end up losing 4-1. Hell, Caleb Folan was able to carve them open, so you know it was bad.
This time around, the Rapids and DC are meeting with DC having similar injury problems and the Rapids joining in this time around. The only defensive casualty for the Rapids is Marvell Wynne, but they're also missing one of their leading scorers in Omar Cummings as well as the obvious loss of their captain Pablo Mastroeni.
DC's defense has had their fair share of casualties, with the biggest one being stalwart midfielder/defender Perry Kitchen. They're also missing a top scorer just like the Rapids in Chris Pontius, but those defensive injuries are the frightening ones for the fans of the Black and Red. Names like Ethan White, Dejan Jakovic and Emiliano Dudar remain questionable for Wednesday's game.
With Conor Casey back against that weakened defense and the large number of strong players that DC have on the offensive side of the ball, we could be in for a heck of a shootout on Wednesday.
