COMMERCE CITY, CO - MARCH 10: Quincy Amarikwa #12 of the Colorado Rapids celebrates his goal in the 89th minute against the Columbus Crew at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on March 10, 2012 in Commerce City, Colorado. The Rapids defeated the Crew 2-0. (Photo by Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

It's pretty rare that the Colorado Rapids get nominees in the best Goal or Save by a Sounders or Timbers player of the week contests on MLSSoccer.com. This week, we had the rare treat of seeing both some spectacular saves by Matt Pickens and a spectacular goal by Quincy Amarikwa as the Rapids dismantled the Columbus Crew in week one, so both the Save and Goal contests have a Rapids player included.

Here's where you can vote for Pickens' save, a beautiful reaction save on the crossbar from a Chad Marshall shot. It's up against some top notch stuff from Bill Hamid and Nick Rimando so it's going to have an uphill battle to win.

Here's where you can vote for Amarikwa's strike, which probably has a better chance of winning the contest than Pickens' save does. That goal really was one of the best ones scored by a Rapids player in a while, up there with Brian Mullan's blast against the Crew last season. What is it with Columbus that inspires Colorado players to score brilliant goals?
