Avila is the second member of the 2010 FC Dallas squad that made the MLS Cup final to be brought in by Oscar Pareja. The first, of course, was Atiba Harris. He has done some decent work in the midfield for Dallas and Toronto -- at the very worst, he's a serviceable MLS starter -- and adds to an already stacked midfield for the Rapids. (We're assuming of course that he signs, but I doubt that he would be the only selection made only to be thrown away.)
Eric made $125,000 last season, so the Rapids will likely spend a while trying to cut that down a bit.
After picking Avila, the Rapids passed in the second round of the draft. They also opted to not jump in at the end after every team had passed, and with most of the half-decent players already off the board that was not surprising. Danny Califf was the first overall pick.
