Chivas USA is starting a brand new era this year and they've already started to see some results out of it. After picking up former Real Salt Lake assistant coach Robin Frasier during the offseason, they retooled a lot of the team including picking up Jimmy Conrad from the Kansas City Wizards Sporting Kansas City and getting a decent hunk of players out of the MLS SuperDraft. Against Sporting Kansas City last week they had a spark of offense, scoring two goals to KC's three. Not the best way to start off a season but much better than most of the Chivas games last year looked.
The Goats spent their first several years in the league as fairly weak playoff contenders, and are trying to regain at least that position this year. If they can play all year like they played against Sporting KC last week there might just be a chance that even in the very strong Western Conference we will see a Chivas playoff match or two.
